Reflection

Sunset In 1988, Father John Jago, superior General of the Society of Mary, sent a frank and challenging letter to all its members. He called it "Mary, the Mother of Our Hope."

Father Jago reminded Marists that they were called to enter into "the work of Mary", to gather in compassion the people of God into a renewed Church. This "Marian Church" is a place of mercy, a people of service, on the move towards a better world, a Church that could be like Mary herself, gentle and compassionate, "attentive to the fears, doubts and allergies of the men and women of our time."

Marists have to re-found the Society of Mary, deepen their experience of God, and follow ever more closely Christ - poor, chaste and obedient. That means they will have to let go of some positions with which they are familiar and comfortable, so as to adopt a way of life and to undertake apostolates called for today.

Call to mind people who have touched your life by being a source of light and hope and give thanks.

Remember now those people and concerns that are dear to you and entrust them to God.
